Since its inception, Holdsworth House Medical Practice has participated in numerous clinical research trials. The trials unit has grown to become one of Sydney's most advanced and comprehensive, participating in almost every major national and international HIV clinical trial conducted in the past few years. It is also one of Australia's largest sites for HIV treatment studies. Clinical trials are conducted in collaboration with other medical practices, the National Centre in HIV Epidemiological and Clinical Research, pharmaceutical companies as well as independently, with several studies initiated by Holdsworth House doctors. Disease prevention, treatment, compassionate use and data collection studies are our focus and are all are approved by an independent Ethics Committee. Trials are not limited to HIV treatments and have included assessing new treatments for cold sores, influenza, herpes, erectile dysfunction, sore throats and soft tissue injuries. We are currently looking for patients who need assistance lowering their blood pressure or are interested in a new treatment for gout.
