Mark has been a director of Holdsworth House Medical Practice since its inception in 1992. His particular interests are holistic general practice, clinical research, HIV medicine, STIs, travel medicine, and hypnotherapy. He has completed his medical degree at University of Western Australia and Masters of Medicine in HIV and Sexual Health from the University of Sydney. He is a past President of the Sexual Health Society of NSW and current board member of Australian Society for HIV Medicine. He is the director of the Clinical Research Unit at Holdsworth House, co-joint lecturer in Medicine at the University of NSW, and a member of medical advisory boards.

Dr Andrew GOWERS

Andrew has been a doctor in Sydney since 1992 prior to joining Holdsworth House as a Sydney doctor in 1998. As a director of Holdsworth House, he has been a key force in developing Holdsworth House into what is today. He is particularly interested in men's wellness, HIV, hepatitis C and herpes, and he has published in these areas. He has been a board member of the Australian Society for HIV Medicine (ASHM) and a chairman of the Australia Herpes Management Forum General Practice Working Group. Andrew is actively involved in peer education and also responsible for the clinical management of the Byron Bay medical practice.

 
Dr Dick QUAN

Dr Dick QUAN

Dr Quan has been a director at Holdsworth House since its inception in 1992 with a clinical focus in sexual health, HIV, Hepatitis and virology. Dr Quan has served on many HIV and sexual health committees including the Anabolic Steroid Reference Committee at the NSW Health Department. He created Holdsworth House as a facility that embraces integrated health using a care team approach and supports ongoing education by speaking at conferences and tutoring at UNSW. Dr Quan is trained in the use of poly-lactic acid (Sculptra) and currently provides a dedicated Sculptra treatment clinic for facial lipoatrophy / lipodystrophy for HIV positive patients. Dr Quan has diverse interests and also serves on many art advisory boards.

Dr David AUSTIN

Dr David AUSTIN

MBBS, MA Psych Med, FRACGP
David has been a Sydney doctor at Holdsworth House since 1994. His particular interests are sexual health, skin cancer, and preventative medicine. He has completed advanced training in family medicine and is a Fellow of the College of General Practitioners. David works part time between the months of November and May and spends half of the year living in Greece.



 
Dr Ercel OZSER

Ercel has been a doctor in Sydney since 1999. He was a doctor at hospitals and a General Practitioner (GP) in numerous private practices before joining Holdsworth House as a Sydney doctor in 2002. He has completed a degree in Molecular Genetics as well as a Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Sydney. He is experienced in the treatment of STIs, HIV, and hepatitis C. His interests are general medicine, paediatric medicine, and mental health counselling. Ercel has also co-investigated numerous clinical research studies. He is currently on sabbatical leave, due to return May 2014.


 
Dr Kate BESSEY

Dr Kate BESSEY

Kate joined Holdsworth House in early 2001. She specialises in all aspects of women's health (including family planning and antenatal care) and has extensive experience in paediatrics, men's health, sexual health, HIV, Hepatitis, travel medicine, and preventative medicine. Kate is an accredited Shared Care GP affiliated and accredited by all local Sydney hospitals. She sits on the advisory board of IVF Australia and has been an examiner for the Royal Australian College Of General Practitioners. Kate has completed advanced training in family medicine and combines this knowledge with an integrative and holistic approach to promoting good health.

Dr Katherine HOGG

Katherine graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery from the University of WA, before relocating to Sydney where she has been a doctor since 2000. Since then, she has worked in various practices on the North Shore, Inner West and Southern Highlands before joining Holdsworth House in 2010. Whilst she enjoys the diversity of General Practice, she also has special interests in paediatrics, women's health, antenatal shared care, sexual health and preventative medicine.

Dr Shiva RAYAR

Shiva graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine from the University of Newcastle. Having worked in emergency, cardiology, surgery, palliative care and psychiatry, he is holistic in his approach to patient care. Shiva gained extensive experience at St Vincent's Hospital where he was awarded Senior Resident of the Year in 2010. He is especially passionate about young adult health.

Juliette joined Holdsworth House as a Sydney doctor in early 2007. Juliette graduated from the University of Tasmania in 1997 with a Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery. She completed her fellowship (FRACGP) in Victoria in early 2004. She brings skills in women's wellness including cervical smear tests and Implanon (contraceptive implant) insertion / removal. She has special interests in children, skin diseases, preventative health and chronic disease management. Juliette believes in a balanced, wholistic approach, where information and patient empowerment is the key to well-being.

Farah graduated from The University of Sydney in 2008 after completing a Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery with Honours. She has worked in most areas of internal medicine and surgery including obstetrics and gynaecology and completed a year at the Children’s Hospital, Westmead where she obtained her Diploma in Child Health. Farah still enjoys working in emergency medicine with a focus on paediatric emergency. She has also worked as a GP in Picton and was accredited in antenatal shared care and Implanon insertions and removals. As well as her obvious interests in paediatrics, women’s health and antenatal care, Farah is passionate about holistic care and aims to empower her patients with the knowledge they need to take control of their own health.

Gary graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Sydney in 2001. Through working in a number of hospitals in metropolitan Sydney and country NSW, he has had extensive experience in emergency medicine, internal medicine and general practice. Gary's particular interests are in family medicine, sexual health, men's health, psychiatry and preventative medicine. He is also completing a Masters of Public Health from the University of New South Wales. His personal interests are fitness, swimming, skiing, travelling and reading.

Jacqueline graduated from The University of Sydney in 2007 after completing a Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery. Prior to this, Jacqueline completed a Bachelor degree in Molecular Genetics and an honours research year in leukaemia treatment at the Children's Cancer Institute of Australia. She enjoys the variety offered by general practice but has special interests in sexual health, HIV medicine, travel medicine, women's health, paediatrics and preventative medicine. She is currently also undertaking a Masters of Public Health and Tropical/Travel Medicine and has experience working in travel medicine.

Jane joined Holdsworth House in 2006 after working at Royal North Shore Hospital in Emergency Medicine and as a GP on the North Shore of Sydney. She was also a tutor for five years in the University of Sydney Post-Graduate Medical Program. Jane's interests are in general medicine, women's health, sexual health, travel medicine, paediatrics, sports injuries and musculo-skeletal problems. She has completed the FPA Certificate in Sexual and Reproductive Health and is also a qualified Psychotherapist and member of ANZAP (Australia New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists). Prior to becoming a doctor, Jane worked as a physiotherapist for 10 years. She then completed a Masters of Public Health and worked in asthma research for the University of Sydney.

Gail has been a Sydney doctor at Holdsworth House since 2002. She graduated from the University of Sydney having completed Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery, and Bachelor of Health Science degrees as a mature aged student. Specialising in antenatal care, Gail provides complete pregnancy care. She is an accredited Shared Care GP affiliated and accredited by all Sydney hospitals. She has a Certificate in Family Planning and has a particular interest in holistic medicine, women's health, sexual and reproductive health, menopause, as well as counselling / lifestyle changes.
