Since inception, Holdsworth House medical centre has participated in important studies and clinical research trials. The trials unit has grown to become one of Sydney's most advanced and comprehensive. It has participated in almost every major national and international HIV clinical trial conducted in the past few years, and is one of Australia's largest sites for HIV treatment studies. The trials are conducted in collaborations with other practices or the National Centre in HIV Epidemiological and Clinical Research, pharmaceutical companies as well as studies initiated by Holdsworth House doctors. Most of the trials involve medications in their final testing stage before they reach the market. The studies are approved by an independent Ethics Committee. Trials are not limited to HIV treatments, and have included cold sore, flu, joint inflammation treatments, blood pressure and neuropathy.
