A dental implant is an artificial tooth replacement, designed to effectively replace missing teeth, or teeth that can't be saved by conventional means. A typical dental implant consists of a titanium screw (resembling a tooth root) and the crown, usually of high grade porcelain, fused to precious metals like gold.
