  As well as general medicine, Michele has a special interest in Family Planning and Hepatitis C. Graduated in 1978 from the University of Sydney, she has lived and worked in the Northern Rivers Region of NSW since 1981. Recently she completed a GP attachment with the Liver Clinic, Northern Rivers Area Health Service. She is currently a Medical Officer with the Lismore Family Planning Clinic.

  General Practitioner

  General Practitioner (GP) John’s special interests are HIV, Sexual Health, and Clinical Research, as well as Tropical Medicine, Travel Medicine, Rural and Indigenous Health. Graduated from UNSW in 1974, he has solid experience in General Practice while being a member of many national and international steering committees on HIV and Sexual Health. Having worked in Papua New Guinea, Northern Territory and Queensland, he is now looking forward to bringing his extensive experience to Byron Bay community.

  Dr Dunstan THOMPSON MBBCh, MRCGP, FRACGP
  General Practitioner

  Dr Dunstan Thompson joined Holdsworth House Medical Practice as a full time GP in 2009, bringing with him a wealth of experience in general practice and a special interest in psychiatry and paediatrics. He graduated from University of Wales, and commenced his medical experience in Zimbabwe and Johannesburg doing emergency and trauma medicine. This was followed by a 3-year stint in Wollongong and Shellharbour Hospitals between 1999 – 2001, covering psychiatry, emergency medicine, paediatrics, and neurology. This period was especially memorable that he returned permanently to Australia in 2006, working as a GP in Pottsville and Cabarita Beach. In this time, he also worked as CMO in Murwillumbah Hospital. Dr Thompson is married with 2 children, and is an avid French Horn player.

  Dr Charles McDONALD BA, MB.BS, FRACGP, D.Obst, RCOG, MPsychMed
  General Practitioner

  Dr Charles McDonald graduated from Sydney University in 1974, and spent the first 4 years working as resident in various hospitals in Sydney: the Royal North Shore, St Margaret’s for Women and Children, and St Vincent’s. He was particularly interested in psychology, thus completed a Master of Psychological Medicine from University of New South Wales in 1993. Charles spent the next 10 years in the field of psychiatry in Nepean Hospital, and in Psychiatric Outpatients at St Marys, as well as being a surgical assistant in Hawkesbury and Nepean Private Hospital. With a special interest in skin medicine, he commenced working in Coastal Skin Cancer Clinic in Tweed Heads in 2004, prior to joining Holdsworth House Medical Practice in August 2008.

  Dr Jim HOUNSLOW MB.BS, Dip RACOG

  Dr Jim Hounslow has been a long standing GP in the community of Byron and its surrounding area since 1985. He graduated from Queensland University in 1967 and started his career in the Royal Australian Army Corps 7th and 8th Field Ambulance. Jim spent 12 years working as a GP at the Condobolin Medical Practice, and also as a Visiting Medical Officer at the Condobolin District Hospital. He seachanged to Byron Bay in 1985, and spent his first seven years in a busy group practice before starting his solo practice. For 23 years, Jim worked very hard as a full time GP, as well as covering Byron District Hospital as its Visiting Medical Officer. In Jan 2009, Jim decided to amalgate his practice into Holdsworth House Medical Practice, and takes time to enjoy golf and the Manly SeaEagles.
